Parent Testimonials

Standing up for something you believe in can be thrilling and a little intimidating.

It is even tougher when there are loud and impassioned voices on the other side. Remember though, the loudest voices do not make up a majority. So while standing up for something you believe in can be hard, it’s important to stand up for the facts.

There is no question, immunization has become a heated subject. There are organizations, celebrities, and even politicians who work to erode trust in vaccines. Just bringing up the subject of immunizations in a playgroup can create challenging conversations and friendships.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Facts and information rooted in overwhelming scientific evidence cannot be debated. You can and should stand up for your choice to immunize your child. You are a part of the majority of parents who choose to vaccinate their children. There is a groundswell of parents who want to combat the tide of misinformation about and distrust in vaccines. Parents just like YOU are taking a stand for healthy kids.

Together, we can make sure every child can proudly say, “I’m good.”

Hear from parents and caregivers about why they choose to vaccinate:

With a child who lives with a chronic disease, our family does our best to avoid illness. Complications of seemingly mild illness can mean hospitalization or worse for my little girl. We are so grateful for vaccine protection, public health, and herd immunity! I cannot imagine having to worry about diseases like smallpox, tetanus, or measles, and I’m extremely grateful for the ongoing option to help protect our family from severe disease.
Angie, Mom of Two

I’m a mom of three kids who are 18, 19, and 20 years old. Each of them has received every recommended vaccine since they were born. I believe in science and know vaccinating my children is the best way to protect them, me, our family and friends, and others who might be at higher risk for illness because of a weakened immune system or other health conditions.
Erica, Mom of Three

I am a mom of two adult children, with eight grandchildren. I also worked as a pediatric nurse for many years. When my kids were young, we didn’t have many of the vaccines we have today. I saw children who were sick with diseases we can now prevent with vaccines. My children had chicken pox before the vaccine was available. They did not have severe illness, and yet they were miserable, and I spent almost two weeks off work to care for them. I would never choose the disease instead of the vaccine. My children got all the vaccines available to them, and now my grandchildren are lucky to be protected from even more diseases. Their protection helps protect those around them who can’t be vaccinated. Vaccines are safe, effective, and offer important protection!
Lynn, Mom and Grandmother

I’m a mom to a five-year-old kiddo and a five-year-old stepson. I also am a professor who has taught classes in microbiology and vaccine development, and I know that vaccines are safe and effective at training our immune systems to recognize and fight infections. During Covid, when my kiddo was 3 and the Covid vaccines for that age weren’t available yet, they contracted Covid and RSV at the same time at preschool. They were so sick! Fortunately, I had received my Covid vaccine and booster, which gave my immune system enough of a leg up that I didn’t contract Covid from my kid, and I was able to stay healthy enough to care for my family. Now, when it’s time to receive a Covid or flu or other recommended vaccine, my kiddo will say to the nurse “I don’t like needles and I don’t like shots, but I want the shot to train my white blood cells to fight bugs!” It’s great to see them understand why we choose vaccination to keep ourselves and others safe, even if an injection isn’t fun!
Nicole, Mom of Two

I am a strong believer in vaccines and I try to educate my family about it as much as I can. When I was a baby there was an outbreak of measles and many little children and babies died. My mom was scared because I was only 10 months and our public health system and insurance didn’t allow that vaccine until 12 months. In fear that I was vulnerable to measles, she took me to a different city to see another pediatrician. Under his supervision, I got the vaccine. In my neighborhood, 3 babies and 5 children died, and many others got seriously ill. My mom is convinced that thanks to the vaccine, my sisters and I made it through the outbreak. Since then, she made sure that everybody in the family were up to date on our vaccines.

When I became a mother, some other moms tried to convince me to not vaccinate my son, but I was able to defend my stance about vaccines since I was very well-informed and from my own experience. I witnessed a mom lose her son to meningitis; he had not received any vaccines. I also saw another family watch their daughter battle mumps complications in intensive care for over 2 months; she was also not vaccinated. When people try to convince me to not continue vaccinating my son, I always stand my ground and explain why I believe in vaccines. And every once in a while, I make an impact on other moms that do not believe in them!

Adriana, Mom
